The brave and beautiful Swanilda Hoffman, gorgeously danced by Ukranian-born principal ballerina Natasha Kusch.
Indeed, all of the performers are to be commended for their ability to communicate myriad emotions not only through dance but also through other bodily movements and facial expressions – it is something that is integral to the success of the production. Huan, Kusch and Lawrence were especially engaging in this regard with Kusch radiating life and light and beauty both when she danced and when she was on the fringes, engaging with her fellow performers.
Watching Huan and Kusch dance these routines was enthralling – both did so with the great technical skill only a professional ballet dancer possesses, but also with an ease and emotionality that made it impossible to take your eyes off them as they traversed the stage.
